My Take on Netflix's "Don't F**k with Cats" (Otherwise Known as "I'm Mind Blown")

So, I log in to Netflix the other day with the intention of binge-watching the second season of YOU.  Haven't even started it yet.  I got sucked into a rabbit hole watching Don't F**ck with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer.  What the what??!! I'm mind blown!  The 3-part docu series is one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen.  If you've seen it, please tell me what you thought. If you haven't, it's probably best kept that way.

This 3-part true crime series is based upon Luka Rocco Magnotta, a Canadian murderer who was convicted of killing and dismembering Chinese international student Jun Lin.  He's also infamous for posting videos of torturing and killing cats.

I'll try not to give spoilers, in case you want to watch this film but here's my takeaway:

Luka's mother is cuckoo for cocoa puffs.  She's in total denial and I have a feeling she's a few tools short in the shed.

If I ever end up endangered or murdered, call John Green and ....  (sorry, can't remember her name).  They've got some mad sleuthing skills and missed their true calling in life.  They have more madness and devotion invested into finding Luka than I've ever seen anyone do.

As the title implies, there's cats involved.  But not in a good way.  I literally had to stop the film about 10 minutes in and ask a friend if it was going to traumatize me.  I still felt quite uneasy watching this series.  You don't see straight murder scenes but not much is left to the imagination.  Pop a happy pill and a Xanax before watching;  You're going to need it.

Luka Rocco Magnotta takes cray cray to a whole new level.  He's also a genius and/or had too much time on his hands.  "Idle hands are the devil's work."  Who has the time or gumption to go through all that staging and planning?!  He's the top-level definition of a narcissist.

Because Luka supposedly based part of his killings on the Basic Instinct film, Jason and I watched it the other night.  I can see some similarities.  If you're behind on the times like I am and haven't seen Basic Instinct yet, it's basically soft core porn disguised as a thriller.

Being blamed for watching the documentary almost made me feel accosted.  How dare somebody tell me I'm to blame for Luka's crossed wires!  I ended up watching a deleted clip, though, that gave a better insight on why the audience might be accused of being monsters in this madness.

So, have you seen the show?  What's your take?

I watched it too. It was fascinating to watch. It was sick at times too but that fb group Bodhimov I think was the lady were intent and insistent and it sure helped. I just wondered where Luka for the money to travel like he did. Yes his mother is a nut job. I couldnt believe her

Awesome! I'll bet that was fascinating to watch. Sounds interesting. Interestingly enough, many serial killers first started out torturing and killing animals when they were just kids.

I haven't seen it. I won't. Too squeamish here. I do have a movie story to share though. I put on Charlie Brown's Christmas DVD and my son walked away saying it was the worst graphics he had ever seen. What the what?!?!? How can you not like a Peanuts movie?!? LOL :) I was crushed, mortified, and watched it on my own. ;)

I dont have Netflix anymore so I havent seen the documentary, but I did just spend an hour googling stuff about it, and about Magnotta's alleged link to serial killer Karla Homolka and how she is running around free in Canada and let me just say WOW! I am glad I can't watch this because there are some sick, terrible people on Earth...

I haven’t seen it and I’m not going to after reading this post. The title definitely would’ve got my attention if i wouldn’t have seen this first.
