Kinda in Quarantine Due to COVID

Unless you want to shell out a pretty penny, you can't buy a kayak around here.  With COVID, kayak sales have skyrocketed (along with pools and trampolines).  My hubby got lucky and was able to find me one in May at a fair price.

Well, I took my kayak out for the fifth time since getting it in May.  Except this go round, it caused a conundrum.

Last Tuesday I went out on the lake with a friend who's a deputy.  We didn't swap slobbers.  We took our own vehicles.  Rode in our own kayaks.  Stayed our distance for the most part.

Two days later, she finds out her husband has the 'Rona (along with several of his workmates).  For obvious reasons, she's been put in Quarantine.  She won't be tested unless signs of sickness show up.  Fast forward to Saturday, she's called to let me know since she and I were around each other.

To give a heads up, I call my supervisor at work to let her know.  I figured she'd tell me to just keep an eye out and let them know if I show any symptoms.  But, after she calls the health department, they want me to stay away from work until August 12th.  It's out of an overabundance of caution.  Guess if I get it and bring COVID in to work, we'll go down like a sinking ship.  We're already short-staffed as it is.  So, I get the logic behind it.  Here's hoping I don't get the crap and can get house clean for the next several days I'm off work.

How have you been affected by COVID-19?
Were you able to get a kayak before they started selling like hot cakes?

Oh gosh I hope you all stay healthy! I think it's better to be safe! I didn't buy a kayak but I can believe they are hard to get now!

We've had our kayaks for a few years, but my cousin wanted to buy one in June and waited a day after making the decision. Well, they sold out in 24 hours and he hasn't been able to get his hands on one since.

Sorry to hear you're out of work for the next week, but definitely better safe than infecting your coworkers if you have it. Thankfully, we've been covid-free so far, but I do have to get tested next week before I can get a surgical procedure done. I am NOT looking forward to that test!

We don't kayak, but my daughter has been riding around on a bike two sizes too small for months now because ALL THE BIKES were bought up online and in stores where we live. She got one YESTERDAY and finally doesn't look like a grasshopper riding down our street!
Stay well :)

It looks like fun to go out with that!

I lost my job at the end of May - no seniors to recruit, so no job for me. They didn't want to let me go. I got a job as a front end supervisor at Fresh Thyme. The hours are crazy! I'm not a big fan of counting the safe. No one I know likes their job there. I dislike all those things. I want people to like their job. It's been rough!

The kids were supposed to start school next week. They just announced yesterday that they won't start for a few weeks because they are going fully remote. Maybe good because we were worried about taking and picking them up. With the system they had Isaak would loose his carpool.

I feel so tired all the time with 4:30 to 1:30, and then 1:30 to 9:30 work shifts. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just one or the other. This back and forth thing is killing me.

A manager messed with my cashier drawer, and my drawer was off $50. I was loosing sleep over that.

Then I worry about taking COVID home to my family.

I should be happy I have a job though.

I am a senior with COPD so I am staying home most of the time. My sister in TN her daughter had it and the whole family had to get tested. My sister law here had it but it was a easy time for her thank goodness

Hope your okay! Things haven't been much different around here. My husband is a self employed farmer, so he's been doing things as normal. Our daughter's were off work for awhile but they've been back for a several weeks.

We've just had to be more careful but one of my son's football players has it. They told them to just watch for symptoms.
