What are some things we can learn about animals from the shape of their mouths, beaks, or bills? What can we infer about animals with sharp teeth compared to large, flat teeth? Are there any animals that don’t have mouths? In this second book of her “Animal Anatomy and Adaptation” series, award-winning nature photographer and environmental educator Mary Holland shares fascinating animal mouths with readers of all ages.
My Review:
A book with realistic photos, Animal Mouths covers what kinds of mouths different animals have. It includes birds, insects, mammals, amphibians, and more. A couple of interesting facts that readers will learn is why adult luna moths don't have a mouth and which animals have incisor and canine teeth.
The 'For Creative Minds' section in the back of the book shows how mouths are used for things other than eating, explains different kinds of mammal teeth, tells about a variety of bird beaks, and has a glossary.
Animal Mouths is a May 2015 book release by Arbordale Publishing.
