Slow Cooker Green Bean Casserole - Recipe

I really like Green Bean Casserole, but it's usually only made during the holidays and I've only had the variation that's baked in the oven.  I found a recipe in the Fix-It and Forget-It Slow Cooker Magic Cookbook and thought I'd give that version a try.  Turned out pretty tasty, if I do say so myself.

2 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. flour
1 tsp. sugar
2 lbs. frozen green beans, cooked and drained
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup French fried onion rings

In a saucepan, melt butter.  Whisk in flour until smooth.  Add sugar and sour cream.  Stir over low heat until thick and hot.

Combine green beans with sour cream sauce.  Place in slow cooker.

Sprinkle green bean mixture with cheese and onions rings.

Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours.

I have never made or tasted a green bean casserole before, but really want to try it. I read about this dish around the holidays, and forget to try it out. This looks good.

I love the Fix It and Forget It books! They are very helpful and I like how there are many similar recipes with only a few differences in the ingredients--makes it easy to find that perfect recipe that has only the ingredients you already have in your cabinets! I'm not a big green bean fan but surely, after adding cheddar and fried onions they would taste good, right??
