Rockin' It Out With Shinedown

Wednesday night Shelby and I attended the Shinedown tour concert in Springfield, IL.  It was her third Shinedown concert and my first.
The first band to play was Monster Truck, out of Canada.  They were all right, not bad but not great.  Next up was POD.  And they were good!
But best of all was Shinedown.  I see why Shelby has seen them multiple times.  The band is not known for fancy stage tricks, but they have energy and can sing.
It was my first time at a mosh pit in a concert, and we were only six lines deep.  In other words, we were pretty close to the stage.
Because people can be vile creatures, I learned real quick that I had to hold my ground.  Shelby and I literally stood for five hours, not moving out of our spots.  Once a person moved, you could guarantee their spot was getting taken.  More than once I had to tell people that they weren't butting in front of me.  If I would have been polite, I would've been fifteen rows deep by the time it was all said and done.
Once the concert was over, Shinedown started throwing out their guitar picks.  One landed right by my foot.  As soon as I bent down to pick it up, some chick come flying like a crazed banshee and started fighting me for it.  We went at it for a short bit, until she started literally pulling at my fingernails.  I had the mindset to smash her face to the ground.  But, being the bigger person, I let her have the pick.  If that's what gets her through life, so be it.

Shelby and I had a blast and Shinedown rocked the house!

Have you ever had a bad experience at a rock concert?  What concerts have you been to?

When I was about 16 or 17 to see Loverboy with my step sister. We were having so much until 2 pot heads decided they were going to cut in front of us.They must have had some bad weed because it was making us so nauseous.Im 6 ft and this loaded girl is pushing me from the side.Im like seriously. She was like 5'2.I turned and looked down at her and told her to please stop pushing me.She didnt stop,so I put my hand on her head and told her if she moved she would be very sorry. She tried again so I pushed her on the floor and she finally stopped. We ended up walking away from the smell of lousy weed.Over all we had fun.We both had a bad headache.
It looks like you two had fun. Your daughter is so pretty. Her smile is so beautiful :)

Glad you had fun at the concert despite the fact that you were surrounded by people acting like...ugh...people. To say "acting like animals" would be insulting to animals.

I always enjoy going to concerts with my daughter. I think it is such a fun thing to do with our children. I am looking forward to some summer concerts. It is a shame though that some people can't behave like adults!

I've never experienced rudeness like that at a concert, but we usually buy the nosebleed seats lol. I imagine the closer you are to the stage, the more ruthless people can be.

That's awful about the girl w/the pick. I've been to too many concerts to list, but I've been lucky so far, and not had a bad experience (knock on wood). I've never been in the pit though. You're far braver than I. :) Glad you had a nice time!
