Random Tuesday Thoughts - Movies and Medication

It's been a while since I've participated in Random Tuesday Thoughts, hosted by Stacy Uncorked.  Thought I'd jump back in the game.
I know it's not officially Autumn, but the pumpkin spice and scary movies are in the air.  It's my favorite time of year.  Bring on the bonfires, haunted houses, Halloween parties, and caramel apples.

I went with a friend the other day to watch Don't Breathe in the theater.  It's being touted as a horror movie.  I wouldn't go quite that far.  There was suspense and some high-tension moments but it wasn't scary by any means.  It was more weird than anything.  It's the first time I've ever seen a movie scene of a turkey baster of semen being shoved down a person's throat!

I got together with some gal pals on Saturday evening for gab and games.  We played several rounds of Scattergories.  It's one of my favorite games of all time, and brought back memories of when I used to play it often with my mother and grandma.
After much prompting from a couple of friends, I went to the doctor.  July and August was a really bad month for me, and I pretty much checked out.  I wasn't suicidal by any means but I sure wasn't functioning properly.  A lot of it stemmed from the death of my mother.  It was weighing heavily on me.

So, I manned up and went in to be evaluated.  The diagnosis was severe depression.  Doctor put me on Lexapro.  I've been on it for two weeks now and I can see a positive change.  I'm not near as hateful, sad, or angry.  A pill is not a cure, but it sure has been a help.
Last week was my 12th year on as a 9-1-1 Telecommunicator.  Hard to believe I've been doing it that long.  I plan on sticking it out till retirement (only a kajillion more years to go).
My cat and dog like to fight like, well cats and dogs.  But once on a while I'll catch them getting along.  Misty has been fond of giving Helen a bath, and the dog seems to oblige.

What movies have you watched lately?
What's your randomness for the week?
Have a favorite family game?

Yes, yes, a thousand times YES for fall being my favorite time of year! :) Bring. It. On!! :)

Man, I'm really out of the loop on what movies are playing in the theaters - but now that Princess Nagger is doing Virtual Academy vs. a brick-and-mortar school, we'll be able to sneak away for a matinee for mother-daughter bonding. Probably not that movie, though...heh!!

I love Scattergories! It's been a long time since we've had a game night with friends - was just telling the hubby we need to start those back up again.

I'm glad you 'manned up' and went in to be evaluated - especially when you were in 'checked out' mode. You're right, a pill isn't a cure, but sure does help! Princess Nagger has been diagnosed with Anxiety and Depression, but she's only been to the therapist portion 3 times and the doctor who can prescribe anything was booked up until November. She's doing better now that she's not at school being bullied and bored, but there's still some issues. She said she'll be better after November. Good to know from 'the other side' that the medication does indeed help. ((HUGZ!!))

Wow! 12 years! Nice job!!

Our cats alternate between fighting and loving up on each other - I love the pic of your furbabies!

Welcome back! I missed you! Thanks for being random! :)
