CHRISTMAS LOVE LETTERS from God:
Written for children ages four to eight, Christmas Love Letters from God cleverly combines both prose and poetry as the story of Jesus’ birth unfolds. The book includes seven stories, beginning with Isaiah’s prophecy and ending with the visit of the wise men. Following each story, the child will find his or her own letter from God, folded into a small envelope attached to the page. Each letter begins with a space in which to write the child’s name, so each one can be specially addressed to the child. Written as if God is speaking, each personalized message gives the young reader a sense of wonder as they discover anew the Christmas holiday and the birth of Jesus. A very special Bible verse, entitled God’s Perfect Promise, also accompanies each story and letter as God’s personal words of love, promise, and hope.
My Review:
With the holidays soon here, Christmas books are making their appearance. I'm all about the fluff and fun that comes with the Christmas season, but I'm also all about teaching children the true meaning of Christmas - the birth of Jesus Christ.
Christmas Love Letters from God gives youngsters the opportunity to learn about the holy event in a way that is fascinating and understandable. There are a total of seven stories within the hardcover book, with a couple of them being about the Wise Men's Wonder and Joseph's Dream. There are also scriptures throughout the book called "God's Perfect Promise". The writing is appropriate for the recommended age level. One thing that makes this book neat is that there are letters written in a way that make it seems God is speaking directly to the child. For instance, one tells how God will help you just like He helped Joseph. The letters are done in a lift-the-flap format. There's even a "Dear ______" line on the letters if you want to include a child's name in the letter. At the end of the book is a large card that folds out for "My Gift to Jesus". Within that page, the child can write a letter to God with their thoughts, praises, and gifts they can bring to Jesus. All in all, it's a well-written book to teach young'uns the real reason for the season.
