It's National Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Day

I've been on the receiving end of asking for food.  I felt lowly and shameful, but years ago it was what I needed to do sometimes to feed my family.  I'm in a position now to help others and I don't want anyone to go without food.  Going without can affect a person physically and psychologically.

Most of us have food in our pantry just sitting there.  It's still good so we don't want to throw it away.  Or we keep telling ourselves that we'll use it eventually.  Today, you can put those in-date canned goods and non-perishable foods to use by setting it out in a bag before your mail arrives.  Your letter carrier will pick it up and distribute it to food banks.  All food stays in your local community.  It's an easy way to help out!

They need to publicize this better!

I always get a card in the mail telling us about this from my post office. I do leave a bag of food by my mail box each year. This is a super idea.
