I knew this day would happen but I didn't realize it'd be so soon. The girl who I still consider to be "my baby" is now engaged. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
Shelby is 23 years old and has always upheld her story that she'd never get married or have kids. And, now, she's doing at least one of the two.
Shelby and George have been a couple for about six months but have been friends for five years. They connected earlier in the year and have been inseparable since. When George asked me for my blessing to ask Shelby to marry him, I was in shock more than anything. I bawled...and bawled...and bawled. Most of the tears were because "My Elby" won't be my baby anymore. She'll be someone else's problem sidekick.
After snotting and crying all over the place, I gave my blessing. George then asked both of Shelby's fathers (bio and step). It wasn't until after approved blessings that he asked her.
The wedding date is set for October 2018. If anyone wants to mail me several boxes of Kleenex before then, I'd be forever grateful.

Congratulations! So happy for you all...the ring is beautiful!
Congrats to the lucky couple. That's awesome that he likes to hang out with you. I told my youngest his future wife has to want to live next door to his mom. I was kidding of course... sort of. ;) :)
Congratulations! I love that he did it the old fashioned way and asked for the blessings first. Sounds like she has a good man!
Wow! Congratulations! Your Shelby is exactly the same age as my Stella...who hasn't taken this step yet. I am almost crying just at the thought! Much happiness and all the blessings for this young couple.
Congratulations and best wishes to them! I always said I wouldn't get married or have kids, too, but I did and I have two daughters, so yeah, you may be "Grandma" before you know it ;)
I can only imagine how emotional it was for you to give your blessing for your baby girl to get married! I'm one of those woman who thinks I'll be a free spirit, too, but who knows what's down the road? Congratulations to your daughter and the whole family!
Congratulations to the happy couple!
Shoot, I'm not sure how I'm going to make it through my oldest's 5th grade graduation next year without getting teary. I'll never survive them getting married.
Omg!! Yay mom!!! Wedding planning is so fun. I'm so happy for her and you!! You now have a new "son" to love!!
Aw, congrats! Her ring is so pretty.
Congrats!!! Hopefully she changes her mind about kids because they are a cute couple, and would have very adorable kids.
