Book Overview:
Lots of things at the beach scare Sukie. Lots. Because she is just a small dog, and the stairs are big and sandy, and the waves are big and whooshy, and the balls are big and beachy. And besides, there might be lobsters. With endearing illustrations and a perfectly paced text that captures a timid pup’s looping thoughts, here is a funny and honest read-aloud about how overwhelming the world can be when you're worried — and how empowering it is to overcome your fears when it matters the most.
Come on, Sukie, you can do it! A little dog’s paralyzing anxiety gives way to bravery when someone smaller is in need in this humorous, tenderly sympathetic story.
My Review:
A hardback book that's perfect for the summer season, There Might Be Lobsters tells of a girl who wants to take her dog to the beach one day. The canine, Sukie, is anxious and not necessarily excited about going to the beach. The dog's imagination goes into action and it wonders what negative things could possibly happen. When Sukie does finally get to the beach with a beloved sock money by its side, she is still fearful. Beach balls, waves, and lobsters are just some of the things that Sukie worries about. When her sock monkey accidentally ends up in the water, Sukie paddles out to save the plush friend without hesitation. Sukie overcomes her fears to save the sock money friend and learns that the beach isn't such a bad place after all.
Win It!

I prefer to swim in the pool, but the beach is one of my favorite places to be.
Although I love all 3, I'd prefer to "swim" in the pool!
I prefer a pool. I like to see what I am swimming with. Jaws really left an impression on me and then I grew up at a lake and never really enjoyed when you bumped into some of the fish LOL Yeah, pool for me!
Pool
I want to walk the beach and swim in the pool. Pools don't have jellyfish.
I prefer the pool unless I'm down in the clear waters of the Bahamas, in which case it is ocean all the way!
I prefer the pool. I'm not a strong enough swimmer to deal with ocean currents and squishy lake bottoms you can't see through murky water creep me out soooo much. When I was a kid, the lake where we used to go swimming, Alum Creek, turned out to have been built -- no joke -- on top of an old cemetery. One spring, after a heavy rain, coffins started floating up to the surface and bobbing around. It traumatized me so much that every time I'm swimming in a lake and a stick or something touches my leg? I scream like a bansee, convinced that it's bones.
I like the beach the most. But, the pool is a close second.
I would say pool is my favorite, but a day at the lake or beach is nice too!
Born next to the ocean, grew up in the lake and river but I prefer pool. Sorry not a fan a swimming with creatures.
I love to spend time at the beach, however, I prefer to swim in the pool.

I prefer a pool. I grew up at the beach, but after Jaws, eeeeek! And who knows what's lurking in the lake... So yep, I'll be in the pool, right after I check to make sure nothing is hanging out in it too!

Hmmm.....it's been decades since I swam in a lake or beach. I will go with the pool because of the recent horror stories about pollution and brain parasites, etc.
