My Life Lately - Beanies and Conferences

It's been a short while since I've updated y'all on my spectacular life.  Okay, so it's a normal life.  But go along with me anyhow:

My mom's 70th birthday would have been on the 9th.  Me, Shelby, and Rahjae went to the graveyard to pay a visit.  Exactly a week before that was my father's 86th birthday.  He's not buried nearby so I didn't go to his grave.  It should go without saying but here's my words of wisdom:  Don't be so busy this day and age that you don't spend quality time with the ones you love.  They're here only for a short while.  Taking flowers to a grave isn't the same.
Just because I can and it's cute, here's a picture of Trader Jimmy loving up on Rahjae.  Trader is the most chill cat ever.
Halloween I had over 200 trick-or-treaters.  That's about 80 more than the average.  I had cute bags made up with chocolates and other goodies, only to run out at 6:30 pm.  Logan ran to the nearby store and purchased four more bags of candy, only to have it gone in no time.  My friend made one last run and purchased five more bags.  As you can guess, it took less than an hour for that to be gone.  Looks like I'm going to have to start a savings account to finance next year's Halloween candy haul.
For the first time since I've worked as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher, we were given permission to wear a costume for Halloween.  Sadly, I was the only one to dress up in full costume.  #NoShameInMyGame

Soft Kitty made her appearance and had a talk with Sidney about his lack of costuming.
Rise - Women's Conference 2018

Last weekend I attended our church's annual Women's Conference.  Had over 800 gals in attendance.  It was the best one yet, as far as speakers and activities are concerned.  Tracy Strawberry (wife of baseball player, Darryl Strawberry) was the main guest speaker.  Wow, was she powerful and inspirational!  I could've listened to her speak for hours.  I purchased one of her books "The Imperfect Marriage" and she was kind enough to autograph it for me.  Tracy is one of the kindest and most humble ladies I've ever met.
Hate is a strong word so I'll say that I abhor cold weather.  Winter is never greeted with a grin.  Our first snow was just a few days ago.  I don't feel like we've truly experienced Fall yet.  The one and only good thing about the cold is that I can break out my beanies and start wearing them.  Keeps me from having to do my hair.
Donning a beanie at Women's conference

In fact I went to a new doctor the other day, wearing a beanie.  She asked if it was cold outside.  My answer: "Nope, just don't like to comb my hair."  #RealTruth

Before they closed for the season, I was able to get one last run into the local orchard to purchase some apples.  Me and Allyson had a snack of sliced apples, crushed peanuts and caramel sauce.  She posted it to FB and, next thing I know, my co-workers are hounding me about bringing some in to work. Since they wouldn't shut up Being the nice gal I am, I obliged.
What's been up with you lately?
What did you do for Halloween?

I love that you dressed up, even if nobody else really did! And wow, that's a lot of trick-or-treaters. I only get maybe five? We don't have many kids in the neighborhood, so it's nothing too crazy. Mmm...that apple snack looks awesome. You can't go wrong with apples and caramel and peanuts. Yum.

The 2nd year anniversary of my brother's death is coming up, this Christmas actually. I'm not ready. That's true, visiting a grave will never feel the same.

Tons of trick or treaters, we cannot afford that currently, didn't get to do candy this year sadly. Apple treat looks delicious. I've been craving getting fresh peaches personally!

Lol... we are fortunate if we get 20 kids but this year with nice weather I too had to make a candy run! I love seeing the little ones costumes and yours was adorable! I’m a winter hater (yes hate is a harsh word lol!) but at least we are almost past December! We actually had more snow in November (FOUR storms!) and have had ZERO in December...fine by me! Love your beanies btw :)

Going to a grave isn't the same as visiting an alive person. I'm sorry you have 2 graves you'd like to visit spaced out. :(

We had more trick-or-treaters than usual as well. My youngest went to go with a friend in a different part of town. He came back disappointed because we have more candy given out in our neck of the woods.

I'm the staff member that gets the most into Halloween. Others do dress up too, just not as much as I do.

I'm glad you had fun at your Women's Conference!

I'm not a big fan of snow either. It is what it is though. My Mom complains about the summer heat, then the rain, then the snow, I'm like "Mom you're not happy with any weather." Ha!
