Frankie's Food Truck - Children's Book Review

Age Range: 2 - 3 years
Grade Level: Preschool and up
Board book: 12 pages
Publisher: Candlewick Entertainment (October 8, 2019)

Frankie’s Food Truck serves a different shape of food every day. On Mondays, Frankie serves squares. What kinds of foods are shaped like a square? Lift the flaps to unveil all sorts of tasty treats, learning about shapes and days of the week as you go. From a square piece of toast to a slice of watermelon in the shape of a triangle, readers are invited to see how many shapes and foods they can find on each spread.

My Review:

Whether you're trying to teach your child shapes or just want a fun book to go through, I recommend Frankie's Food Truck.  This board book for youngsters has bright illustrations of a cute animal named Frankie who owns a food truck.  Frankie's food truck has a different shape of food on the menu every day.  Mondays are squares, Tuesdays triangles, Wednesdays circles, Thursdays rectangles, and Fridays are hearts and stars.  The weekend's foods are shaped like crescents and ovals.  For each day, there are lift-the-flaps that show foods in different shapes.  Most of them match up with the menu offerings but, once in a while, you will see a food that doesn't belong.  That's a clever way to teach kids about things being the same and different, while teaching and talking about shapes.
