Most Recent Amazon Prime Purchases

I've been purchasing quite a bit off Amazon lately, mostly for Halloween and graphic tees.  Here are some of my faves:

A couple gals at the campground have been taking fruit and veggie capsules similar to these.  Although not the same brand as what they have, I ordered these in the hopes they live up to the hype.  I definitely don't get the recommended servings of fruit and veggies, so hopefully these help.

I wanted a fun, semi-sexy Halloween dress to wear with Halloween props.  Although it's somewhat short, I love the overall fit and look.

When I get to work, my shoes immediately come off.  I walk around in socks.  For that reason, I wear slip-on shoes to work.  I bought these for the unique design and bold look.  They are quite comfy and definitely not hard to miss!

I'm crazy for Halloween and horror movies are my favorite genre.  #TheBoysOfFall with Michael, Jason, and Freddy explains it all.

Fall is my favorite season, so I purchased this festive shirt to wear.  It's comfy and true to size.

Logan sporting the mask.  He gives it two thumbs up.

I wanted a Purge mask to wear for Halloween festivities at the campground.  It comes with a power button and control pack for three light modes.  It gives the desired effect and I'll probably wear it for a bit but, like most masks, it's not effective to wear for a long time.  I'm all for it until my face starts to sweat.

My dog is a big ole' German Shepherd and doesn't realize how big he is.  Bristol likes to antagonize play with the four cats and they're not always game.  I purchased this tall pet gate to put in between our living room and the back bedrooms.  It keeps Bristol out and the cats can still get through the little swinging cat door that is attached at the bottom of the gate.  They can escape through the door for some peace and quiet.  It's proven to be effective.

Introducing My New Grandson, Waylon

He has some of the longest legs I've seen on a newborn.  His daddy (my son) is 6'4" and I almost bet Waylon's going to be tall too.

I was blessed to become a grandma in January and now I'm blessed to have another grandchild.  Waylon Eric was born October 2nd, four weeks early.  Even though he's a little guy, weighing just a little over 5 pounds at birth, he's doing great.

I was able to see Waylon for the first time yesterday, at 11 days old.  I'm so in love and can't wait to see this little guy grow.

I won't blast out the specifics, but my son will be seeing his son for the first time this Saturday.  Adam lives five hours away and wasn't able to be there for the birth of the baby.  I have no doubt Adam and Nicole will be great parents but I'm not so sure they thought the whole thing through ahead of time.  It's one of those "Hey, let's hook up and have sex.  Then I'll go home and you stay in Kentucky.  In the meantime, let's squabble about which one of us is moving so we can effectively co-parent."  Urgh!

Speaking of grandsons, Henry is 9 months old now!  He's crawling like a champ and looooves food.  He has no teeth yet but likes to smile and show off his gummy grin.

Takin' A Crack At the Kayak

me, Ruth, and Rebecca

For the fourth time this year, I was able to get the kayak out on the lake.  My guess is that it will be the last time this year ,with the weather getting colder.  The sky was overcast and the temps were just right for 4-hours kayaking on the lake in Wakonda, MO.

my kayak beached on the island

At one point, a big ole' fish tried to take me out.  There I was minding my own business when, all of a sudden, I felt several continuous thuds hit the side of my kayak.  A fish was trying to wage war!  He finally gave himself a concussion and swam away.  Bout pooped myself a little.

All in all, it was a good day with good friends.

F9: The Fast Saga - #F9 Blu-ray Review

Street Date: September 21, 2021

Theatrical Run Time: 02:22:50

Rating: PG-13 for sequences of violence and action, and language.

The Fast family returns in the latest adrenaline-charged installment with a never-before-seen Director’s Cut of F9.  The blockbuster film has generated more than $600 million worldwide and now fans can own the global box-office phenomenon that features “unbelievable, jaw-dropping action” (io9) on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™ and DVD from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Featuring the original theatrical release, the Director’s Cut and more than an hour of exclusive bonus content – including a behind-the-scenes look at the gravity-defying stunts and nitro-charged cars, a gag reel and even more justice for Han – fans can now add F9 to their collection to watch again and again!

Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) thought he’d left his outlaw life in the rear-view mirror, but not even he can outrun the past. When his forsaken brother Jakob (John Cena, Bumblebee) unexpectedly resurfaces as an elite assassin, the crew comes back together to help Dom confront the sins of his own past and stop a world-shattering plot. Franchise veteran Justin Lin returns to the director’s seat for F9 and delivers this supercharged version of the hit film. From extended action to spectacular scenes that weren’t shown in theaters, F9: The Director’s Cut explodes with additional content that can only be experienced on home entertainment!
F9 also stars returning franchise cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang, with Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron. The film is directed by Justin Lin, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth installments of the series.  Based on characters created by Gary Scott Thompson, the story is by Justin Lin & Alfredo Botello (consultant, Star Trek Beyond) and Daniel Casey (Kin). The screenplay is by Daniel Casey & Justin Lin. The film is produced by Neal H. Moritz, Vin Diesel, Justin Lin, Jeffrey Kirschenbaum (xXx: Return of Xander Cage), Joe Roth (Maleficent franchise), Clayton Townsend (Bridesmaids) and Samantha Vincent (xXx:Return of Xander Cage).

F9: ALL IN: The Fast family invites you to be part of the crew as they give you an intimate look at how F9 propels this epic franchise to even greater heights. This bonus feature, with more than 46 minutes of content, includes returning characters, new cast members, huge stunts, big surprises, and so much more.
PRACTICALLY FAST: When it comes to stunts, it seems each film in The Fast Saga outdoes the last. In this piece, we examine how Justin Lin and his team go to great lengths to shoot as many stunts as they can in-camera and practically, giving the film an authenticity that cannot be achieved solely through visual effects or CGI.

SHIFTING PRIORITIES: We first met many of these characters when The Fast and the Furious was released in 2001. In the 20+ years since, not only have the characters themselves grown and evolved, but so have the actors that portray them. Art often imitates life, and we look at how that's particularly true in F9.

JUSTICE FOR HAN: Han is back! Sung Kang and Justin Lin discuss the genesis for the return of this beloved character, while the cast reveals how much it means to them to have Kang back along for the ride.

A DAY ON SET WITH JUSTIN LIN: The job of a director on any movie production is huge. The job of a director on a production the scale of F9 is immeasurable. Spend a day with Justin Lin and see just how demanding it is to navigate a production day when you're the one with all the answers.

JOHN CENA: SUPERCAR SUPERFAN: John Cena is a real-life car expert, and no franchise does cars like Fast. Watch John jump from exotic car to exotic car like a kid in a candy store, giving you a true fan's look at some of the rarest and most expensive automobiles in the world.

My Review:

It's been 20 years since The Fast and the Furious was first released and I've been a fan ever since.  I've since watched all of the franchise films, including the recently released F9: The Fast Saga.

F9 is an action-packed story within a story.  If you've watched the previous films, you'll be excited to see several returning characters and get insight on them with backstories.  Viewers will learn what happened to Dom Toretto's father and what led Dom to go to prison.  You'll also be introduced to Dom's brother, Jakob, who is none to thrilled to have lived in his brother's shadow for so many years.

With the introduction of Jakob, a family rivalry has both brothers going head-to-head.  Jakob wants to gain control of a device that can control technology and possibly destroy the world.  Dom makes it his mission not to let that happen.  Throughout that central plot, viewers will see several characters from the previous films re-emerge to aide Dom.

As long as viewers take into consideration that a lot of the stunts aren't realistically plausible, I think they will enjoy the fast-pace and high-ride action of F9.  It wasn't my ultimate favorite film from the franchise, but it was entertaining and I liked how it all came together.

(nice pecs, Dom!)

Childhood Cancer Road Ride for Londyn

                                             friend and sheriff deputy, Ruth

250 = number of Side by Sides and ATVs in attendance
500 = number of people in attendance
700 = number of meals served
$170,000 = amount of money raised
4 = age of Londyn, diagnosed with terminal brain cancer
limited = number of days Londyn has left on this earth

just a very small amount of Side by Sides and ATVs lined up, ready to start the event

Jason and I purchased our first Side by Side just a few months ago.  We've taken it on trail rides at the campground.  But last weekend was our first to take it and attend a Poker Run.  A sheriff's deputy that I dispatch for brought up the event info and invited us.  Jason and I made plans to go and brought along two of our friends for the ride.

The Poker Run took place in Durham, Missouri.  The 35-mile ride was taken along gravel and blacktop, with four stops along the way to draw cards.  During part of the ride we had to wear sunglasses and face masks to keep from inhaling all the gravel dust.  We were covered head to toe in gravel dirt by the time it was all said and done.

Although we didn't stay for the auction portion of the event, we did purchase homemade meals of fried chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, cheesy potatoes, and mac & cheese.

The Poker Run is an annual event, benefitting one child battling cancer.  This year it was for a 4-year old girl named Londyn.  I don't personally know her but her story touched my heart and humbled me pretty quickly.  She's been through more in four years than almost any of us have in our entire lifetime.

Londyn was diagnosed with Brain Cancer a year and a half ago.  She's had an umpteen amount of radiation, chemo, surgeries and treatments.  In fact, she's already had 29 rounds of radiation to the brain which is the maximum lifetime amount a person can have.  After all of this, a recent MRI and CAT Scan showed Londyn's masses have grown into her spine.  The diagnosis is terminal and she is now on hospice with just a few days left to go, according to the doctors.

Londyn and her family were in attendance at the Poker Run.  "Faith Over Fear" is their motto.  Although they are very sad about the prognosis, they are very faithful and grateful.

I was in utter awe at the amount of people who showed up to the event and the amount of money raised from a Midwest farm area.  The community rallied together for this family, and the amount of items donated for the auction were beyond anything I've seen for a fundraiser.

It's obvious that Londyn is very loved.  Although her life will be short-lived, she's already left an impact on so many people.
